"This is a course in miracles, please take notes." This famous line is the original first line of A Course in Miracles, right? Actually, not quite. This line does appear right after the first miracle principle, and we've made it the first line of the Course's introduction in our Preorder the Complete and Annotated Edition of A Course in Miracles. However, the actual first line of the original dictation of the Course proper is the following, which we have included as the first line of Chapter 1:

You will see miracles through your hands through me.

This line speaks volumes about what A Course in Miracles is intended for. In short, as the miracle principles that follow the line make crystal clear, this course is training us to become miracle workers, people who bring about salvation by extending miraculous "expressions of love" (T-1.3.1:1) to others. This purpose is succinctly packed into this first line:

"You will see miracles": Miracles are not just shifts in perception, though they do bring about shifts in perception, and these shifts are the vital inner content of miracles. As expressions of love to others, miracles and their transformative effects are something we can often see in the world.

"Through your hands": Miracles are not just about changing our thinking, as crucial as that is. Their expression of love to others comes through our "hands" in the broadest sense of that word: through our actions. That, after all is what it means to express love, is it not?

"Through me": Miracles are not just a matter of Jesus helping us with our thoughts, though he'll certainly do that. They are actions Jesus directs, for after all, he knows exactly who needs those expressions of love from us and exactly what form those expressions should take.

The Course, then, is meant to bring us to the point where our lives are entirely dedicated to the purpose so beautifully expressed in Workbook Lesson 353: "My eyes, my tongue, my hands, my feet today have but one purpose: to be given Christ to use to bless the world with miracles" (W-353.Heading). What a wonderful way to live! I for one am very glad that Helen heeded Jesus' instruction to take notes. Shall we not study these notes carefully so that we will see miracles through our hands through Jesus?

The books arrived at our printer from the binder (the binding is sewn, not glued) yesterday. So the book is in print! When the woman who has been our liaison at the printer got a copy in her hands, she wrote and said, "It turned out GORGEOUS!!!!!" It now has to make a couple of journeys before it gets to you, but for those who have preordered, expect to see it soon.

Last live class is this Sunday, January 15th

If you want to attend the final live webinar, you'll need to order your copy before Sunday. This webinar will cover some of the new themes that appear in the Complete and Annotated Edition.
